Mathew Thomas has quietly built a reputation for picking films that feel a little different from the usual crowd. Sukhamano Sukhamanu follows that same path. The Malayalam fantasy drama released in theatres earlier this year with decent pre-release buzz, though its box office run stayed fairly modest. Still, the film managed to connect with a section of audiences who appreciated its unusual premise and emotional tone.
Now, the film is preparing for its OTT release. Sukhamano Sukhamanu will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 29, with the makers officially confirming the digital premiere recently. The film will be available in Malayalam for Prime subscribers, and it is expected to reach a much wider audience through streaming.
Directed by Arun Lal Ramachandran, the film follows an ambulance driver who slowly begins seeing the ghosts of the people he transports. But Sukhamano Sukhamanu is less interested in scares and more focused on loneliness, grief, and emotional disconnect. The fantasy element stays in the background while the story leans heavily on human relationships and isolation.
Devika Sanjay plays the female lead opposite Mathew Thomas, marking their first on-screen pairing. Jagadish appears in a key supporting role and has received particularly strong appreciation from viewers. The supporting cast also includes Manikuttan, Noby Marcose, and Spadikam George. Music is composed by Nipin Besant, whose soundtrack found a good response online during the theatrical run.
Produced by Gaurav Chanana under the Lucifer Circus banner, Sukhamano Sukhamanu feels like the kind of small-scale Malayalam film that could genuinely benefit from OTT exposure. The Prime Video release may finally help it find the audience it missed in theatres
